The most-awaited movies of 2021: The countdown has begun

It’s an understatement that 2020 made the lousiest year of this millennium. There were few options to socialize and even fewer options to get entertained. If it wasn’t for the movies and TV shows, the world population would’ve halved out of boredom in the last year alone.

Still, we missed out on a fun big time because of the delay in the release of much-awaited movies.

Fortunately, the new year has brought new hopes. We, now, are shielded by effective vaccines and soon all the fun of theaters and movie night will resume.

And we all are ready to join the fun!

Here are some movies which take top positions on our to-watch list.

West Side Story

This remake of a musical from 1957 takes Rachel Zegler and Ansel Elgort in leading roles. You also see the star of the original movie, Rita Moreno, in this remake. The story revolves around rivalry and love. The two street gangs of teenagers – Jets and Sharks – keep the audience hooked. The two gangs rule the streets of New York and thrive to gain larger control over the area. When undeniable feelings of love start developing in the heart of one gang’s leader, the plot takes a serious turn. Make no mistake, the beloved is the sister of the rival gang’s leader.

Steven Spielberg is credited with rethinking the original depiction and bringing this movie to viewers’ attention in 2021.

You have to mark this movie’s release date as it’s a must.

Godzilla VS Kong

The two monsters are keeping up with their rivalry for generations while humanity is looking for a way out. Though the goal of the human race is to wipe out both the creatures off the planet to attain a peaceful life, two monsters have completely different viewpoints.

Under the direction of Adam Wingard, Godzilla VS Kong takes Millie Bobby Brown in the lead role together with Kyle Chandler.

The film will hit the box office on March 26th.

No Time To Die

The long-awaited Bond’s movie that had to entertain us in 2020 is now scheduled for October 8, 2021.

Starting with the usual signs of Bond retiring in a beautiful vacation residence of Jamaica, the movie starts the adventure when the protagonist is called to rescue a scientist. Adventures include the use of technology and devious schemes. How will James Bond cope?

Fast and Furious 9

No, you can’t deny that you were disappointed to hear that its release date is pushed into 2021. Now, you have to wait till May 28 before your eyes can feast on the full movie.

Peaceful years of Toretto’s life are numbered. The life – that he has built together with Betty and his son Brian – turns upside down when he is compelled to face his past. He is forced to bring all his connections back to work now he is tasked with the duty of stopping the greatest assassin of all times – Jakob.


Taking the idea from a science fiction novel of the same name, Dune is a story of an heir of a noble family. The son takes on the duty of protecting a vital element in our galaxy. How can he protect the elements? What challenges will he face?

Taking Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, and Zendaya in leading roles, this movie is directed by Villeneuve.

The movie will be released on October 1st 2021.

Coming 2 America

A sequel to a romantic comedy of the same name, this film features the same prince with a new conflict. Now, the soon-to-become-king has arrived in America to search for his son. What’s new on this trip? Will he find his son?

The same actor, Eddie Murphy, is playing the role of the protagonist. And the brains behind the screen are Craig Brewer as director and Kenya Barris, David Sheffield, and Barry W. Blaustein as screenwriters.

Free Guy

The science fiction story takes Jodie Comer, Ryan Reynolds, and Taika Waititi in leading roles. The conflict starts when the main character finds a truth about his identity and his world. He was no more than a part of a video game that will soon be taken off the shelves. How will this development impact his survival? Can he stop himself and his world from becoming non-existent?

The answers will be revealed on May 21st.

Ghostbusters: After Life

Taking the idea and world of a movie from 1989, the storyline of the movie Ghostbusters: After Life revolves around a family who has recently relocated to a small town. Much to their horror, they come to know about their relationship with a business specializing in catching ghosts.

Can they reconcile with this fact? How?

Watch them finding a solution on November 11th 2021 in this movie featuring Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, and Paul Rudd. Jason Reitman has directed this movie.
