Imagine walking into a bathroom, and being taken aback by the presence of water waves gushing on the floor with marine animals swimming through them. Either you would faint out of shock following this unexpected sight, or you would think that you are dreaming while sleep-walking.
However, you would be surprised to know that the scenario presented above can now turn into a reality with the introduction of 3D bathroom floors.
Basically, the 3-D objects are meant to deceive the eye by presenting a virtual reality. Virtual reality refers to a simulation of any three-dimensional image, mural or situation via computer. This simulation is then made to appear real, so much so, that people can feel themselves living in or interacting with the artificial environment. This is achieved via specialized electronic equipment. How the process works is beyond the scope of today’s article.
3D floors are the latest fad in the construction industry and are being incorporated in residential buildings, shopping malls, offices, and homes including bathrooms.
We will be sharing some 3D bathroom floor designs with you that you can take inspiration from when renovating your house, or getting one constructed.
Your very own beach
Standing on this bathroom floor would probably feel like standing on a seashore with gentle waves moving towards you, and touching your feet before retreating.
Whereas this 3D bathroom floor may be a stress-reliever for a beach-lover, but it can serve as a trigger for someone suffering from aqua phobia.
For the love of sea-life
If you are fond of marine life and love standing by the seaside or large water pools – just to watch these animals swim and enjoy themselves – then this design is for you.
Taking a bath in a bathroom fitted with this 3D floor would feel like you are swimming in the sea, surrounded by dolphins.
The electric floor
This 3D bathroom floor is more likely to be preferred by teenagers or adventurous individuals. It represents vigor, challenge and excitement by depicting what can either be perceived as an electric current or a reflection of thunder.
Who says you can’t play with a Rubik’s cube in a bathroom? Forget playing with it, you can actually have many of them installed on the floor of your bathroom.
If you think we are kidding, look at the image below. It will just blow your mind away.
Another feature of this design is that it would feel like one fell down if they stepped down from the rubik-like steps. In fact, the visual of some blocks falling down further adds reality to this feeling.
Even though it is colorful and visually appealing, this design may not be recommended for those suffering from acrophobia.
If you opt for this design, do remember one thing. Never again would you be having privacy in your bathroom. These two friends from the marine world would not only be stalking every move, but also gossiping about it later.
How to get a 3D bathroom floor?
3D bathroom floors can be constructed by using 3D floor stickers and murals. You can also spend your bucks to install a 3D Epoxy floor.
Amongst all the options available, the Epoxy 3D floor method is the most popular and long-lasting. It involves placing multiple layers – before and after fixing the layer with the desired image. These layers are made up of various elements which have different functions. For instance, the first layer helps the image to stay fixed in its place on slippery ceramic tiles. The ones applied above the design add the depth required by the visual and hence make it appear more realistic.
On the other hand, a 3D sticker, painting or mural -all are placed directly on the surface which allows early wear and tear of the design due to lack of a protective layer. The result is also not as realistic as compared to Epoxy method because the additional element of image depth is missing.
However, there is obviously a difference in the costs involved. Therefore, before deciding which 3D flooring design to choose, you should consider your budget.
